The Importance Of Valuing Rest and Mental Health

the importance of mental healthEveryone has a choice in the matter, we need to devalue being busy and start valuing rest and mental health. Why does it seem like we are always rushing around? We don’t have the time to really take care of ourselves. Life is too hectic for us.

This lack of self-care is not only unhealthy but also affects our moods. You can suffer from many conditions such as anemia, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, fibromyalgia, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, sleep problems, heart disease, arthritis, immune disorders, etc.

This means that you are just one big whack of negative ions. A bad day at work can ruin you for the rest of your life. Our body needs a break. We need to stop feeling guilty for rest and slow down.

Now, I know that this sounds contradictory to what I said at the beginning of this article. But, we must think in terms of self-care; we need to be good to ourselves.

We are often called lazy and we need to think of ways to regain control over our lives. Our laziness is taking away from the health of our bodies and our lives.

If we are running around like chickens with our heads cut off, what will happen to us? We don’t have enough time to fully enjoy ourselves. You do not have to starve to death. You do not have to be one of those people who spends their whole life wondering if they are ever going to get sick again. You can learn to get rid of these feelings by relaxing and taking care of yourself.

Think about this – don’t we all need the assistance of others in order to be able to accomplish all that we need to do in life? Do we really need to feel guilty because we didn’t get all the work done? People try to blame others and call them selfish, but in actuality they are too busy themselves.

It is so important that we take the time to be good to ourselves and start valuing rest and slow down. This is the only way that we will be happy. We need to find a balance between working and living and learning to live at the same time.

Remember, do not wait until tomorrow to feel good about yourself, take the time to improve yourself in every way that you can and make sure that you spend quality time with your friends and family. When I get depressed, I make myself go out and party.

And the best part is that I don’t have to call my mom every time I need to get something from the store. I don’t have to be worried about what my boyfriend/girlfriend will think of me. In fact, if I ever want to go out and do something like a date, I do not have to worry about how my friends think of me.

So, instead of feeling guilty, why not make yourself feel good for being able to take care of yourself? We need to think in terms of being good to ourselves. This is the only way that we will be happy. Stop worrying about being one of those people who never take a day for themselves and start appreciating your self-care.
